Puuriri

Vitex lucens

The Puuriri tree is a large evergreen tree native to New Zealand, reaching 20 meters in height. It features a robust trunk and a dense canopy with glossy, dark green, leathery leaves. The Puuriri is excellent for attracting native birds, such as the kererū, tūī, and bellbird or korimako. These species are drawn to the puriri’s abundant nectar and fruit, which provide food resources throughout the year.

Flower : Tubular flowers in red/pink flowering intermittently throughout the year

Fruit : Berry like, bright red. Generally, not consumed by people.
