Bay

Laurus nobilis

The bay tree is an evergreen shrub or small tree famous for its aromatic, glossy dark green leaves. Bay leaves are widely used in cooking for their distinctive flavour and aroma. They are typically added to soups, stews, sauces, and marinades. The leaves are usually used dried rather than fresh, as drying enhances their flavour. They are removed from the dish before serving since they are tough to eat.

Flower : Small, pale-yellow flowers in the spring, which are subtle yet fragrant.

Fruit : The tree bears small, dark berries that follow the flowers. Although not commonly eaten, these berries are primarily valued for their essential oils and are used in some traditional medicines and culinary practices.
